Birth of United Rising
United Rising, conceptualized by Yasmine Rugarli at the beginning of 2023, emerged as a visionary movement with a profound purpose. Its central mission was to serve as a dynamic space where individuals could come together and actively shape initiatives that challenged prevailing systemic dynamics and uphold our six core values.
In a world where our sense of responsibility towards the planet and its inhabitants often falls short, Yasmine sought to create a dimension where the sense of belonging and interconnectedness could be expanded, starting with the community of United Rising.
Registered Foundation in the Netherlands
One of our significant accomplishments was obtaining official registration as a foundation in the Netherlands the 17.07.2023. This milestone solidified our presence as a recognized entity, empowering us to work more effectively towards our core objectives.
Members
The backbone of our organisation lies in the passion and dedication of our members. Their diverse skills, expertise, and commitment have been instrumental in our drive to uphold our mission. Together, we form a network of like-minded individuals who believe in the power of collective action to bring about positive change.
Our members come from various backgrounds with different experiences relevant to our mission. Their active participation in decision-making processes and hands-on involvement in projects demonstrates the spirit of collaboration that defines our association.

Current Goals and Actions
1. Providing intersectional sustainable solutions to promote environmental justice
Our overarching goal is to provide intersectional sustainable solutions that serve as a catalyst for positive change - fostering a more just and inclusive world. Our goal is to amplify the voices of the most marginalized groups and to address structural injustices and socio-environmental challenges worldwide. We want to encourage diverse individuals to share their experiences and perspectives, creating a united movement for holistic welfare and sustainability.
2. Empowering Youth for Environmental Welfare
Our goal is to empower youth to tackle environmental challenges with confidence and passion. We recognize that young people have the potential to drive meaningful change, but they may face obstacles like eco-anxiety and societal taboos. By providing support, resources, and a safe space for expression, we aim to inspire youth to take action, engage emotionally, and break free from inhibitions. We believe that we can create a generation of eco-conscious leaders who transform the world for the better.
3. Addressing Ecocide
Our primary goal is to address ecocide by promoting a paradigm shift in our approach to addressing environmental degradation. In our mission of reimagining the Model United Nations (MUN) approach we work to foster a transformative shift away from the traditional state-centric security perspective, instead focusing on human security.
Moreover, beyond the human-centric perspective, we advocate for recognizing nature as having intrinsic rights. Our actions revolved also around fostering a profound understanding of our interdependence with nature and harmonious coexistence with the environment.
4. Applied Research project with The Hague University of Applied Sciences
We will collaborate with The Hague University of Applied Sciences to support their Applied Research Project (ARP) that aligns with our campaign's objectives. Through this partnership, we will leverage academic research and practical solutions to inform advocacy efforts. This collaboration will enrich our project and campaign with evidence-based insights and innovative ideas.
